2009 Thayer Chamber Music Festival
July 13-17 & July 20-24
Sponsored by Thayer Performing Arts Center Atlantic Union College
|
Into it’s fifth season, this Festival is a non-competitive but
intensive chamber music program for strings, woodwinds and
pianists age 12 and up, including adult amateurs. Thayer
Performing Arts Center (TPAC), a division of Atlantic Union
College, is a cultural center which has served the local community
for over 30 years. During the academic year, Thayer builds
programs to suit both college and community level students. The
Thayer Chamber Music Festival marks the Center’s desire to
continue its mission to reach out to the community and provide
the highest level of musical training for all.
Participants will be placed by the Faculty into groups that reflect
their ability. Since there is no audition for the Festival, level will
be determined by the number of years the participant has played,
what type of repertoire he or she is currently playing, as well as a
discussion between the participant’s private teacher and the
Festival's Artistic Director, Peter Sulski. Members of the Worcester
Chamber Music Society, in collaboration with QX, will coach all
the chamber groups and perform two Faculty concerts per session.
